The growing threat in Europe calls for the fastest, most adaptive technology. That is why today the Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT), together with the Delft University of Technology Campus and the Province of South Holland, is launching the MIND (Military Innovation by Doing) Tech Centre on the TU Delft Campus. The first joint innovation centre for Defence, startups and SMEs. Together we will:

- Develop drones, sensors & space technology faster
- Test and optimise smart IT and digital systems
- Significantly shorten the innovation cycles of materiel and IT

In his opening speech today, State Secretary for Defence Derk Boswijk reminded us of the courage of the 'factory soldiers' of 1940. Back then, carpenters, blacksmiths and factory directors without military experience had to defend the skies themselves, in between their work. Now it is time to break down the walls between soldier, entrepreneur and scientist. The MIND Tech Centre gives us room to test and experiment, with the aim of shortening the innovation cycles of materiel and IT. Today COMMIT, together with the defence industry, startups and SMEs, ensures the timely delivery of modern materiel and IT. We bring knowledge and expertise together and innovate by learning.

For COMMIT this means: more room to experiment, faster prototyping and working directly with the best of Dutch innovation. Together we are building resilient, future-proof armed forces with innovative materiel and IT.
