As they explained to Quote, the challenge was not only designing the best E-step—it was navigating an uncertain regulatory landscape. With an estimated 300,000 E-steps in use in the Netherlands, despite most being illegal, Chingiskhan and Max saw an opportunity not only to introduce a better product but also to pioneer a legal and safe solution for urban transport.
After more than five years of development, and €1.5 million in investments, SELANA is now in the final phase of its permit process. Designed to comply with all government regulations, these E-steps are limited to 25 km/h and built according to high standards.
